This article lists the security alerts you might get from Microsoft Defender for Cloud and any Microsoft Defender plans you've enabled. The alerts shown in your environment depend on the resources and services you're protecting, and your customized configuration.

Alerts from different sources might take different amounts of time to appear. For example, alerts that require analysis of network traffic might take longer to appear than alerts related to suspicious processes running on virtual machines.


Microsoft Defender for Containers provides security alerts on the cluster level and on the underlying cluster nodes by monitoring both control plane (API server) and the containerized workload itself. Control plane security alerts can be recognized by a prefix of K8S_ of the alert type. Security alerts for runtime workload in the clusters can be recognized by the K8S.NODE_ prefix of the alert type. All alerts are supported on Linux only, unless otherwise indicated.


2: Limitations on GKE clusters: GKE uses a Kubernetes audit policy that doesn't support all alert types. As a result, this security alert, which is based on Kubernetes audit events, is not supported for GKE clusters.


Understanding the intention of an attack can help you investigate and report the event more easily. To help with these efforts, Microsoft Defender for Cloud alerts include the MITRE tactics with many alerts.


For alerts that are in preview: The Azure Preview Supplemental Terms include additional legal terms that apply to Azure features that are in beta, preview, or otherwise not yet released into general availability.


Normally when creating Azure resources through Bicep modules I would have 2 files. One file designated to hold the parameterized resource and another file, the main file, which will consume that module.


My pipeline references main.bicep and will deploy the listed resources in the file. My question is, is there a way to add a third file in the mix? One file to still hold the parameterized resource, one file to hold the associated resource modules, and the main.bicep file. The idea is to create various alerts throughout my existing resources but I don't want to add a ton of modules to main.bicep as it will quickly increase the complexity and amount of code in this file.


Any options that also affect security updates are used the next time a security alert triggers a pull request for a security update. For more information, see "Configuring Dependabot security updates."


By default, Dependabot raises all pull requests with the dependencies label. If more than one package manager is defined, Dependabot includes an additional label on each pull request. This indicates which language or ecosystem the pull request will update, for example: java for Gradle updates and submodules for git submodule updates. Dependabot creates these default labels automatically, as necessary in your repository.

Note that the CoffeeScript compiler does not resolve modules; writing an import or export statement in CoffeeScript will produce an import or export statement in the resulting output. Such statements can be run by all modern browsers (when the script is referenced via ) and by Node.js when the output .js files are in a folder where the nearest parent package.json file contains "type": "module". Because the runtime is evaluating the generated output, the import statements must reference the output files; so if file.coffee is output as file.js, it needs to be referenced as file.js in the import statement, with the .js extension included.


Also, any file with an import or export statement will be output without a top-level function safety wrapper; in other words, importing or exporting modules will automatically trigger bare mode for that file. This is because per the ES2015 spec, import or export statements must occur at the topmost scope.

Embedded Grafana Dashboards: Ceph DashboardGrafana dashboards may be embedded in external applications and web pagesto surface information and performance metrics gathered bythe Prometheus Module module. You must restart Ceph manager processes after changing the SSLcertificate and key. This can be accomplished by either running ceph mgrfail mgr or by disabling and re-enabling the dashboard module (which alsotriggers the manager to respawn itself):


Grafana pulls data from Prometheus. AlthoughGrafana can use other data sources, the Grafana dashboards we provide containqueries that are specific to Prometheus. Our Grafana dashboards thereforerequire Prometheus as the data source. The Ceph Prometheus Modulemodule exports its data in the Prometheus exposition format. These Grafanadashboards rely on metric names from the Prometheus module and Node exporter. The Node exporter is aseparate application that provides machine metrics.


Please note that in the above example, Prometheus is configuredto scrape data from itself (port 9090), the Ceph manager moduleprometheus (port 9283), which exports Ceph internal data, and the NodeExporter (port 9100), which provides OS and hardware metrics for each host.


To use Prometheus for alerting you must define alerting rules.These are managed by the Alertmanager.If you are not yet using the Alertmanager, install it as it receivesand manages alerts from Prometheus.


To be able to see all configured alerts, you will need to configure the URL tothe Prometheus API. Using this API, the UI will also help you in verifyingthat a new silence will match a corresponding alert.


name: The name of the rule. This must be unique across all rules. The name will be used inalerts and used as a key when writing and reading search metadata back from Elasticsearch. (Required, string, no default)


type: The RuleType to use. This may either be one of the built in rule types, see Rule Types section below for more information,or loaded from a module. For loading from a module, the type should be specified as module.file.RuleName. (Required, string, no default)


alert: The Alerter type to use. This may be one or more of the built in alerts, see Alert Types section below for more information,or loaded from a module. For loading from a module, the alert should be specified as module.file.AlertName. (Required, string or list, no default)


aggregation: This option allows you to aggregate multiple matches together into one alert. Every time a match is found,ElastAlert will wait for the aggregation period, and send all of the matches that have occurred in that time for a particularrule together.


means that if one match occurred at 12:00, another at 1:00, and a third at 2:30, onealert would be sent at 2:00, containing the first two matches, and another at 4:30, containing the third match plus any additional matchesoccurring before 4:30. This can be very useful if you expect a large number of matches and only want a periodic report. (Optional, time, default none)


For aggregations, there can sometimes be a large number of documents present in the viewing medium (email, jira ticket, etc..). If you set the summary_table_fields field, Elastalert will provide a summary of the specified fields from all the results.


realert: This option allows you to ignore repeating alerts for a period of time. If the rule uses a query_key, this optionwill be applied on a per key basis. All matches for a given rule, or for matches with the same query_key, will be ignored forthe given time. All matches with a missing query_key will be grouped together using a value of _missing.This is applied to the time the alert is sent, not to the time of the event. It defaults to one minute, which meansthat if ElastAlert is run over a large time period which triggers many matches, only the first alert will be sent by default.
